Perovskite Solar Cells: Ground Breaking Discovery which will lead to increase in stability and efficiency

Image
Perovskite has been hailed for its remarkable properties compared to traditional silicon solar cells, however, until now they have been too unstable to be suitable for commercial use.     The next-generation cells are expected to cost less, have a much higher power conversion efficiency, and be lightweight and flexible – opening up new applications like coating glass windows with thin layers of solar panels.       A team of researchers from the city university of Hongkong and Imperial College, London has made this ground-breaking discovery. The chemists were able to overcome perovskite’s difficult properties by making use of a metal-containing material called ferrocenes, which they added as an interface between the light-absorbing layer of the solar cell and the layer that transports electrons.     The unique properties of ferrocenes can help overcome the problems with perovskite solar cells,” said Professor Nicholas Long from Imperial Co...

Significant discovery in Solar energy Technology by an Israeli Professor

Perovskites are the new elements that will change the whole dynamics of the Solar energy industry. Tandem perovskite solar cells are capable in theory of 45% efficiency , though ST(Solar-Tectic LLC) has set a more realistic 30% efficiency goal, higher than the best silicon wafer technologies such as PERC, PERL, HIT, HJ cells with 25-26.6% efficiencies. The efficiencies of today's solar cells generally range from 14%-25%.   “Whether these bold new solar cells hit markets next year or in 2025, there’s agreement among experts that they will transform solar panels” Dr. Greg Wilson, site leader at the CSIRO Energy Centre in Newcastle, NSW, says the commercialization of Perovskite Solar cells is realistic. Solra, a Photovoltaic technology company based in Israel, has come up with an effective method to replace the Perovskite cells with the use of an Indium tin oxide layer.                   ...

Farmers - The Backbone of our Nation

Image
think about it for a second. If tomorrow our country starts to import rice grain and other staples, what will happen to the common man? A food crisis is not what a nation wishes for. We need Corporates and other professionals to seriously invest in the agriculture sector. Serious funding should be directed towards the research and development in the agriculture sector. Its time to wake up!
